As someone who’s navigated Chicago’s housing market for over two decades, I’ve seen its resilience firsthand. Recently, Chicago has shown stronger price momentum than many Sun Belt cities, driven by limited inventory and our city’s relative affordability. According to Zillow, annual home-value growth continues here, yet owning a home in Chicago remains within reach compared to several coastal metros. If demand holds steady, prices could remain supported even if national housing activity slows as we approach 2027. And with the possibility of lower mortgage rates on the horizon, Chicago’s standing as an affordable major metro could become even more attractive to buyers. It’s another reminder of why I love working in this market—there’s always a new chapter unfolding.
